Hi Derek Thank you the information, it's great to finally be getting some of the history of my father in law's U boat story. We know he was first sent to POW camp 158 (we can't find any records of where this camp was) on the 17th May 1945 and he then went onto Camp 651 which I have found, was in Wellington,Shropshire. Franz also said that he was on another U boat earlier

Hello again I put a request for help on here over a year ago. I have now received more information. My Father in law, Franz Kusch was on U826 which surrendered in Scotland in May 1945. The international red cross in Geneva have sent me this info. It seems like the U boat was on it's first mission and surrendered so I think I'll need to find out why or maybe something went w

Hi My Father in law was Franz Kusch, he died some years ago. He was on U boats during the war. He was depth charged twice and survived - the 1st time he was picked up by a German ship so was given some short rest time and then sent out again, the next time he was depth charged, he was picked up by a UK ship so was made a prisoner of war, he stayed in the UK the rest of his life never returni
