The finalist position report from this submarine was 38 degree 10'N 11 degree 30' E The good English language book on this sinking is -Beneath The Waves- by A.S. Evans. It is not translated into German yet. The P-311 was mined according to Evans.

The thing that always was a mystery here was that the "Fairport" was loaded with tanks that were supposed to be distributed among the other four or five ships of this special convoy to Egypt.
