Volker.... I also forgot to mention that in the book by Melanie Wiggins - U-Boat Adventures... on Page 185 (U903 and U-1205) and on Page 202 (U-999), there are descriptions of some of the rescue operations by U-Boats. And a nice Sunday to you also.

Denis.... In addition to references from your later post ".....I know that some U-boats were involved in the evacuation. The evacuation started towards the end of 1944, so it could be possible that U96 did help. Does anyone have current or updated information regarding the "U-Board" Forum. It was located at: The last messages posted were on 12 December 2007. It would be a shame if all the archived messages (years 2000-2007) were totally gone. There were quite a few gems in there (my opinion).
