Re: U96 Involvement in evacuation of the Eastern Provinces

In addition to references from your later post ".....I know that some U-boats were involved in the evacuation. The evacuation started towards the end of 1944, so it could be possible that U96 did help. See book "U-boats under the Swastika" by Jak P.Mallmann Showell see chapter Death with Dignity the last two pages. Also see book "Neither Sharks nor Wolves" by Timothy P. Mulligan reference on page 86......". Showell, I note, is the only one that mentions
U-96.
Perhaps the U-96 KTB would also shed some light on this. Ritschel Band 2 has no info regarding U-96 involvement.
