13 December, 1943, after 12.16:
U-172 turns towards USS Osmond Ingram. Driven at 7 - 8 knots by her one working diesel,
U-172 is in the closing stage of her 180º turn towards the oncoming USS Osmond Ingram. She is still not fully surfaced, and is leaving an impressive oil trail, her decks awash as the diesel exhaust is driven through her diving tanks in order to complete the task of blowing them. The concussions seen in the background are still those from USS Clemson's 12.13 depth charging.
