Notes

As the Swedish cargo ship Rumina was detoured on 23 Oct 1915 by U-17 (Kptlt. Hans Walther), Oberleutnant Arthur Metz from U-17 came on board Rumina to oversee and ensure that the ship reached the new ordained destination. On Oct 24th at 0200 hrs the ship struck a mine and sank. 6 crew died and the remaining crew of 10 plus the captain and Mr. Metz reached shore rowing about 5 hours later.

Arthur Metz arrived in the same evening to Visby, Gotland with the remaining crew, and was received by his countrymen. He took command of his own boat, the UB-17 in Feb 1916.
