| Notes on loss | At 04.13 hours on 25 Mar, 1942, the unescorted Ocana was hit by one torpedo from U-552 and burst into flames immediately. The U-boat left the tanker in a sinking condition, but she did not sink and burned out. The only survivors, three engineers and a British gunner were picked up by the USS Mayo (DD 422) the same day. The floating wreck of the Ocana was spotted three days later by the HMS Fleur de Lys (K 122), which was escorting the tanker Dolabella and was scuttled by gunfire by the HMCS Burlington (J 250) on 15 April in 43°24N/64°45W. | ||
