| Notes on loss | At 05.46 hours on 5 Dec, 1942, the unescorted Teesbank (Master William George Loraine) was hit aft by two torpedoes from U-128 north of St.Paul Rocks and sank by the stern about 30 minutes after being hit aft by a coup de grāce at 06.10 hours. At 06.00 hours, a first coup de grāce was a dud. One crew member was lost. The master was taken prisoner by the U-boat, transferred to U-461 (Stiebler), landed at St.Nazaire on 3 Jan, 1943 and was taken to the POW camp Milag Nord. 41 crew members were picked up by the American steam tanker Bessemer and landed at Rio de Janeiro. 19 crew members were picked up by East Wales and landed at Natal, Brazil on 23 December. | ||
