Notes on loss At 08.22 hours on 1 Sep, 1944, HMS Hurst Castle (K 416) was hit by one Gnat from U-482 and sank north of Troy Island, Donegal. The corvette served in the British B1 Escort Group, escorting the convoy CU-36. The survivors were picked up by HMS Ambuscade (D 38)
