History Launched in 1930 as Northwick and laid up unfinished due to the Great Depression. Completed in September 1936 as Alderpool for Pool Shipping Co Ltd (Sir R. Ropner & Co Ltd), West Hartlepool. 
Notes on event

At 00.42 hours on 3 April 1941, U-46 (Endrass) attacked convoy SC-26 for a second time southwest of Reykjavik and observed one hit on the Alderpool (Master Tom Valentine Frank, OBE) in station #11. The ship was abandoned and was finished off by U-73 behind convoy with a coup de grĂ¢ce at 03.28 hours the same day. The master, 36 crew members and two gunners were picked up by Thirlby and landed at Loch Ewe.
