Notes on event

Between 08.30 and 09.20 hours on 21 November 1939, U-33 sank the Sulby and William Humphries about 75 miles northwest of Rathlin, each with about 5 rounds from the deck gun.

All crew members of William Humphries (Skipper Charles Horace Bridge) abandoned ship in one lifeboat, which was last seen by a lifeboat from the other trawler. Two bodies were later washed ashore and buried on the Isle of Skye.
