Notes on event | At 20.20 hours on 17 Dec 1943 the unescorted Kingswood (Master Frederick H. Parmee) was hit by one of two torpedoes fired by U-515 southwest of Kotonu, Dahomey in the Bight of Benin. The ship was sunk by a coup de grĂ¢ce at 20.28 hours. The master, 40 crew members and seven gunners landed 10 miles west of Dahomey on 19 December. | ||
