| Notes on loss | At 13.04 hours on 6 Oct, 1940, the Benlawers (Master W.G. Scott-Campbell), a straggler from convoy OB-221 , was torpedoed and sunk by U-123 northeast of St.Johns. 23 crew members and one gunner were lost. The master, nine crew members and one gunner were picked up by the British merchant Forest and landed at Bermuda. The second officer, 14 crew members and one gunner were rescued by the Bengore Head. | ||
