Sank on 6 August 1942 in the Baltic Sea north-east of Leba, in position 55.03N, 18.05E, after a collision with U-444. 2 dead and 43 survivors. Raised on 18 August 1942, repaired at the Holmwerft in Danzig and returned to service on 31 May 1943 as a training boat. Scuttled on 1 May 1945 in the U-boat base at Warnemünde, in position 54.10,3N, 12.05,7E. Wreck raised in July 1945 and broken up. | ||||||||||||||||

Men lost from the boat

During working up exercises in the Baltic U-612 sank after colliding with U-444. Two men from U-612 died. The boat was later raised and used for training.
