Destroyed 1 April, 1945 in Hamburg, by US bombs.

Renamed S 3 after being transferred to Italy in exchange for transport vessels. Reverted to Germany as U-747 after the Italian capitulation.

Men lost from U-boats

Unlike many other U-boats, which during their service lost men due to accidents and various other causes, U-747 did not suffer any casualties (we know of) until the time of her loss.
