<HTML>Hans Goebeler\'s book \"Steel Boats Iron Hearts\" mentions a fairly taboo topic... the intimate relationship between U-505 skipper Peter Zschech and his 1WO Thilo Bode. He has a snapshot of Zschech and Bode posing for the photo while holding hands! Zschech, of course, is infamous as the only U-boat skipper to have ever committed suicide whilst in action. The book also details Hans\'affair with a French \"lady of the evening\" who was later forced to leave Lorient because of her affair.</HTML>
