<HTML>Hi guys,
I could not leave this alone and did some research. Now, one of the main reasons the Russians did what they did was largely because of one man and it was Stalin that was ok with this. It was a man named Ilya Ehrenburg, a famous Russian writer at the time who public said: \"Soldiers of the Red Army, the German women are yours!\". Since Ilya Ehrenburg was officially sanctioned by the Soviet government, the Russian soldiers took his announcement as coming from the Kremlin. My source is from the same book by Siegfried Knappe who researched this from Russian archives.
Yuri, in no way am I attacking you personally as I value your opinion on items. I just wanted to back up the fact that those things really did occur and why.
Best wishes,
Fin
P.S. Thanks for the book recommendation Torlef, I will look for it for sure.</HTML>
