DereK, I was aboard the PCE846 on the first Bond Tour of the U-505. Have been doing allot of research since receiving your "Treatise" on the Tour's from Jerry.
You ask a question about the pier in DC, my info is it was at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling's Capital Cove Marina.
I'm in my 87th year and my recollection of the schedual of the tour is differen't than yours. Two things that are clear with me is the trip from Philadelphia to New York. A person from a New York radio station was on board and he wanted to interview some crew members and record comments for a radio program that would help to promote the tour, I was one the four interviewed, it took place in a 20mm gun tub next to the wheel house at 0002, it was a warm night.
The second thing I remember is that we were all getting leave, my leave began on 10 June, went to San Francisco, have a copy of my return ticket to NYC dated 21 June, back on the ship in New York on 23 June! Our ship left New York on 28 July.
In my mind we went to Norfolk first, then DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, then NYC.Also don't recall going to Boston!
The last thing I remember is we left NYC, for Panama on 28 July, the day that the B-25 hit the Empire State building! Very foggy day!
