Notable events involving Crouter include:
21 Aug 1944
USS Barbel (Cdr. R.A. Keating, Jr., USN) ended her 1st war patrol at Majuro. She was escorted in by USS Crouter (Lt. C.F. Braught, USNR).
From 22 August 1944 to 4 September 1944 she was refitted by USS Bushnell and Submarine Division 142 Relief Crew.
From 8 to 10 September 1944 training, including night training, was carried out.
27 Aug 1944
Around 1415L/27, USS Burrfish (T/Cdr. W.B. Perkins, Jr., USN) ended her third war patrol at Majuro.
She was escorted in by USS Crouter (Lt. C.F. Braught, USNR) which had joined around 0930L/27.
USS Burrfish is taken in hand for a post patrol refit by USS Sperry (T/Capt. J.P. Thew, USN) and a relief crew from Submarine Division 101. Refit was completed on 10 September. During the refit, USS Burrfish had been docked in ARD-18. (1)
19 Sep 1944
At 0900L/19, USS Burrfish (T/Cdr. W.B. Perkins, Jr., USN) departed from Majuro for her fourth war patrol. She was ordered to patrol of the Bonin Islands.
She was escorted out by USS Crouter (Lt. C.F. Braught, USNR) until 1300L/19.
1 Jul 1945
USS Dragonet (T/Lt.Cdr. G.G. Hinman, USN) and USS Scabbardfish (T/Cdr. F.A. Gunn, USN) conducted exercises off Guam with USS Greenlet (T/Lt. R.B. Willhoite, USN), USS Crouter (Lt. C.F. Braught, USNR), USS Seid (Lt. A.F. Craft, USNR) and USS PC-620 (Lt.(jg). M.E. Wiemers, USNR).
On completion of the day exercises USS Scabbardfish returned to Guam escorted by USS PC-620.
The other ships remained at sea for night exercises and returned to Guam on 2 July.
5 Jul 1945
USS Dragonet (T/Lt.Cdr. G.G. Hinman, USN) and USS Spikefish (T/Lt.Cdr. R.R. Managhan, USN) conducted exercises off Guam with USS Greenlet (T/Lt. R.B. Willhoite, USN), USS Crouter (Lt. C.F. Braught, USNR), USS Seid (Lt. A.F. Craft, USNR) and USS YMS-357 (Lt. J.P. Potsch, USNR).
On completion of the day exercises USS Spikefish returned to Guam escorted by USS YMS-357.
The other ships remained at sea for night exercises and returned to Guam on 6 July.
28 Jul 1945
During 28/29 July 1945, USS Devilfish (T/Lt.Cdr. S.S. Mann, Jr., USN) and USS Tigrone (Lt.Cdr. Vincent Edward Schumacher, USN) conducted attack exercises off Guam with USS Steele (Lt. Seymour, USNR), USS Crouter (Lt. C.F. Braught, USNR) and USS Seid (Lt. A.F. Craft, USNR). These exercises included night exercises.
7 Sep 1945
Around 0945I/7, USS Tilefish (T/Cdr. W.F. Schlech, Jr., USN) ended her sixth war patrol at Guam.
She, and USS Sea Cat (T/Lt.Cdr. R.H. Bowers, USN), were escored in by USS Crouter (Lt. C.F. Braught, USNR) which had joined the submarines around 0600I/7.
The submarines were then taken in hand for voyage repairs by USS Sperry (T/Capt. R.J. Ramsbotham, USN). (2)
