History

Suspended in June 1942 to free facilities for other work.
Only a very small section had been assembled, and this was launched on 10 June 1942.
Work resumed in December 1944 and the section of the hull was laid down again on 6 December 1944.
Work was suspended on 17 February 1947.
Work resumed on 17 August 1948 but progressed at a very slow rate.
Launched 20 January 1950. Finally cancelled on 22 January 1950. In 1956 the bow section was used to repair the bow of USS Wisconsin that was damaged in a collision.
