USS R-3 was transferred to the Royal Navy on 4 November 1941 at New London, Connecticut, U.S.A. She joined 7th Flotilla at Rothesay, U.K. for anti-submarine warfare training in January 1942.

Scrapped at Troon, Scotland in February 1948.
