USS S-28 (Lt.Cdr. J.G. Campbell) went missing during training exercises off Oahu, Hawaii with Coast Guard cutter USCGC Reliance. A Court of inquiry was unable to determine the cause of her loss.

USS S-28 (Lt. J.D. Crowley) ended a refit at the Mare Island Navy Yard. She now returns to San Diego for further service at the Underwater Sound Training School there.
