History | USS Oklahoma (Captain Howard Douglas Bode) was at Pearl Harbour on 7 December 1941 and was hit by at least 5 torpedoes causing her to capsize. Total losses were 415 Navy and 14 Marine Corps for 429 KIA out of 1353 crew at time of loss. Efforts to salvage her began in March 1943 and on 1 December she entered her dry dock. She was not repaired but decommissioned on 1 September 1944 and then sold for scrap on 5 December 1946. She sank en route to the breakers yard on 17 May 1947 550 miles out of Hawaii en route to San Francisco. |
