Decommissioned on 5 May 1922 and transferred to the Coast and Geodetic Survey on 23 January 1923 being renamed USC&GS Guide on 1 March 1923
Returned to the USN on 27 June 1941 and converted to a salvage and rescue Vessel being renamed Viking (ARS-1)
Placed in service with a cicilian crew on 3 January 1942
Placed out-of-service and returned to the USN on 17 March 1953
Stricken on 19 April 1953
Sold to be broken up for scrap on 22 July 1953
