While on passage from Dakar to Madagascar the Vichy-French submarine Le H?ros torpedoed and sank the Norwegian merchant Thode Fagelund (5757 GRT, offsite link) south-east of New London, South Africa in approximate position 33°00'S, 29°00'E. All crew of the Thode Fagelund survived the sinking. (1)
