23 Dec 1943
Around 0600L/23, HMAS Stuart (Lt.Cdr. N.A. Mackinnon, RAN) departed Brisbane to make rendezvous with the submarine tender USS Orion (T/Capt. C.S. Isgrig, USN) and her current escort USS Harmon (Lt.Cdr. K.E. Read, USNR).
Rendezvous was effected in position 26°32'S, 156°16'E around 1800K/23.
USS Harmon then parted company and set course for Noumea.
HMAS Stuart and USS Orion arrived at Brisbane around 1020L/24. (2)
27 Dec 1943
From 27 to 29 December 1943, HMAS Stuart (Lt.Cdr. N.A. Mackinnon, RAN) and HMAS Townsville (Lt. A. Farquhar-Smith, RANR(S)) conducted A/S and attack exercises with USS Albacore (T/Cdr. J.W. Blanchard, USN).
HMAS Stuart however parted company around 1005L/28, having been ordered to escort USS Orion (T/Capt. C.S. Isgrig, USN) to the vicinity of Sydney. (3)
28 Dec 1943
Around 1400L/28, HMAS Stuart (Lt.Cdr. N.A. Mackinnon, RAN) made rendezvous with USS Orion (T/Capt. C.S. Isgrig, USN) off Caloundra.
They parted company around 2100L/29 to the North-East of Sydney. (2)
3 Jan 1944
Around 1100H/3, HMAS Adelaide (A/Capt. J.C.D. Esdaile, OBE, RAN) departed Fremantle to make rendezvous with the submarine tender USS Orion (T/Capt. C.S. Isgrig, USN).
Rendezvous was affected around 0930H/4.
USS Orion and HMAS Adelaide arrived at Fremantle around 0900H/5. (4)
13 Mar 1944
Around 1345H/13, the submarine tenders USS Orion (T/Capt. C.S. Isgrig, USN) and USS Pelias (T/Capt. W. Wakefield, USN) departed Albany to return to Fremantle. They were escorted by the light cruiser HMAS Adelaide (A/Capt. J.C.D. Esdaile, OBE, RAN). The submarine rescue vessel USS Chanticleer (T/Cdr. R.E. Hawes, USN) was also with them.
They arrived at Fremantle around 1000H/16. (5)
30 May 1945
At 0435K/30, USS Hackleback (T/Lt.Cdr. F.E. Janney, USN) made rendezvous with USS PC-1082 (Lt. N.P. Bard, USNR) which then escorted her to Saipan where they arrived around 0845K/30. USS Hackleback was then taken in hand for some minor voyage repairs by the submarine tender USS Orion (T/Capt. E.R. Hannon, USN).
20 Jun 1945
USS Moray (T/Cdr. F.L. Barrows, USN), USS Carp (Lt.Cdr. J.L. Hunnicutt, USNR) arrived at Saipan from Pearl Harbour. They were then both taken in hand for voyage repairs by USS Orion (T/Capt. E.R. Hannon, USN).
21 Jul 1945
At 1134K/21, USS Lionfish (T/Lt.Cdr. B.M. Ganyard, USN) makes rendezvous with USS PC-1259 (Lt. T.H. Engelhardt, Jr., USNR) which is to escort her to Saipan.
At 1552K/21, USS Lionfish moors alongside USS Orion (T/Capt. E.R. Hannon, USN) at Tenapag harbour, Saipan. She is then taken in hand for minor repairs. She also commenced embarking 16 torpedoes and 52845 gallons of fuel.
