All ships of the Task Group including USS Iowa (Capt. J.L. Holloway, Jr., USN) were fuelled by a group of oilers. Iowa herself was fuelled by the USS Chicopee (Cdr. C.O. Peak, USNR). Iowa also received stores from the USS Aldebaran (Lt.Cdr. S.L.M. Cole, USNR).
