17 Jan 1944
Around 1100VW/17, USS Searaven (T/Lt.Cdr. M.H. Dry, USN) departed from Pearl Harbor for her 10th war patrol. She was ordered to patrol in the Marshall (Eniwetok), Caroline (Truk) and Marianas Islands (Saipan) areas. She was escorted out by USS PC-570 (Lt. A.W. Cocroft, USNR) until 1945VW/17. Before proceeding to her patrol area USS Searaven is to top off with fuel at Johnston Island. (1)

18 Dec 1944
At 1555L/18, USS Dragonet (T/Cdr. J.H. Lewis, USN) made rendezvous with the armed yacht USS Beryl (Lt.(jg) L.C. Radtke, USNR) which was on a weather reporting station to the north of Midway. To escort the damaged submarine to Midway the patrol vessel USS PC-570 (Lt. A.F. Medbery, USNR) had been sent out but she failed to make rendezvous with the damaged submarine.
