Hello Einsamer Wolf.
After just sitting down with my hot-coffee, I started reading your comments
about this Revell U-boat kit you now have. I really do not think it is
possible to make this kit a museum-quality replica? Unless you have
capabilties beyond the modelling U-boat world.?
As I said before in my last posting to you, this kit is NOT 100%, as it
should be.! Although the details are good, but not to scale on some parts.
Come too think about it, I also remember those annoying water-vents
on the side of the boat. I remember using a small hand-drill and a small
round fine file to rectify those vents. After some swearing & skilled patients
needed for this job, it did look something like a German U-boat.
It was interesting to read, that you had undertaken a new genre of model
ship-building, mostly for wooden framed ships.
I have at the moment, been building Captain Cook's HMS Endeavour in
1/60 scale. This boat is a Artesania Latina Kit. With my 32 years of being
a ship model enthusiasts, I'm still learning the art of patients. I just finished
the wood planking on Endeavour's hull, and it is double planked. I hope to
finish the boat in the next 2 years..? With some luck,I hope.?
Coming back to your new adventures in your Revell U-boat kit, I do wish
you all the luck in doing a top job in building this kit. I do think it can be
definitely done with some thought put into those vents & that ensign
problem. Which I,m too at a loss on how it can be over come.?
Kind Regards Joe
