Dear Einsamer,

Bare in mind that not every modeller is born with the capabilitys to make the perfect modell. For some it is a slow progress and some will never learn it. Not everybody has the documentation or know how at hand when he or she begins constructing. Background and the capabillety to "feel" oneself in the time the model is situated in is not something that comes natural to every modeller. One can make a modell right out of the box or scratchbuild something that was never there on the market.
I think the most important question is"did you have fun making it?" If the answer is "yes" I bet the next modell will be made better. It is a constant learning process and it depends on howmuch some wants to learn.
There are modellers who only buy modells, books, paint, glue and gather all kinds of documentation and then build someting one would not even spend a dime for.
It is a matter of taste and understanding the subject, some skills and a lot of patience. Ofcourse there are "masters" like Shep Pain or Francois Verlinden.
But even the "masters" make mistakes(sometimes even big ones).
Lets take it for what it is, namely a hobby. If one has fun in detailing about everything one can detail on a modell thats fine by me. If one does not want to spent that much time in, for instance, recreating 10.000 rivvets on a sub-hull in 72 scale in that same scale don't blame him or her for not doing it. There are limits to ones capabilleties. There was ones a series about a pink submarine and it did'nt take much time to see pink submarines appear on our local ponds. Bad taste? or just fun? One guy will find it horrible the other smiles and goes on with what he is doing. Its a matter of taste and one cannot argue about ones taste.

Kind regards
Wiljan Bakers
