tapping of telephone cable

I have heard that a uboat tapped an Atlantic ocean telephone cable and recorded conversations between Roosevelt and Churchill. I don\'t know where I heard it. Is it true? If so, what boat and the details please. The reading of just such activities by the USN tapping Soviet underwater cables during the cold war prompted this question.
