Evacuate valve

I have a question concerning the evacuate valve. When you walk through U-995 you
can see 4 lever at the ceiling in the central room. The inscription are
\"evacuate valve Tauchbunker 2, 4 Stb. and Bb.\". So, but you can see on many
photos that for crash dive these valves were pulled down. My question is: \"Why
were the Tauchbunker flooded for diving?\" The Tauchbunker were used to carry
fuel and they were slowly flooded through a valve (a flood valve) during a
patrol. They didn\'t need to open the evacuate valves. So it would be stupid to
flood a tank, filled with oil.
A second thought was that the Tauchbunker could be used as normal Tauchzellen
when no more fuel was left, but the Tauchbunker weren\'t used this way so often,
but nearly every book has such a piture of a \"pulled evacuate valve\" in central
room.

I think that the letering of the 4 levers is wrong. I think that this are the
valves for the Tauchzelle 3.

Has anybody an idea?
