The American submariens in the Pacific War carried what was called a \"bathythermograph\", a device which could measure the temperature of the water outside the hull while submerged. This was important because asdic-pings could not penetrate temperaturelayers. Did the German U-boats carry a similar device ? I can imagine they did, because of the many temperaturelayers present in the Arctic. Thanks in advance.
