Water clarity is important, as Ken says. Other factors include water surface conditions (surface roughness aids concealment), light conditions (darkness aids concealment), intensity and angle of the sun with respect to viewing angle (reflections may decrease visibility), submarine color, and (in relatively shallow water) bottom conditions. =AL=
