A sub ,even if deep can detect an ASW helicopter with it's hydrophones , it will pick up the sounds of the rotor wash on the water or the sound of a hydrophone being dipped into the water searching for the sub . A sub most likely cannot hear a plane but it can detect sonar bouys being dropped into the water from the ASW plane .
