Heinz Schäffer, the author of book "U--977" wrote in his book that one of U-Boats where he was in the war made approximately 300m dive, at least once. He also mentioned that later on the was some subs reached at least 350m and came back, claim which is very hard to believe..
Actually, does anyone have "actual" (as actual as it can be after 60 years) knowledge about real and absolute max. depths what German types IX and VII -reached without hull failure during the last 2 years of war.
