That's my question- roughly how much water would a boat be drawing in such a circumstance, while still allowing a landing party to exit the boat.
I understand that they can alter their draught, but I presumed that the published draught of 18 feet is the absolute minimum when the boat is fully surfaced- so that no matter what, the boat starts to hit ground in 18 feet of water. Persicope depth is about 20 ft. under water, correct? So if the boat is at periscope depth, wouldn't it start hitting ground in 38 feet of water?
