How would the pressure get in the boat and is this unwanted in a U-boat?

Each dive by a U.S. Navy WWII fleet boat, high pressure air is bled into the boat
at the order of the Chief-of-the-Watch in the Control Room. He watches the
altimeter as it idicates the pressure desired, then signals to stop the blow. If the
needle on the altimeter stays steady, the boat is tight.

This pressure will stay in the boat until it surfaces or if it snorkles. I offered a similar explanation about Negative Tank and "Blow Negative" on 07-18-02 at 03:17.

Did you check out that website for "THE FLEET BOAT" manual?
