schussmeldung

Hello,

Currently i am writing a book about ON-166 and i found out that something was not correct with respect to the schussmeldung of the U-707.

I hope that someone can help me:

The schussmeldung says:

Bezeichnung : I & III , did they shoot port torpedoes to a target on starboard with a schusswinkel of 63 degrees?

Eigener Kurs : 170 (i assume that this is the true heading of the U-Boat)

Schiffspeilung : 44 grad. (is this also a the true compassbearing or is
the angle between the heading of the u-boat and the victim ? and how do i
know if the victim was on the starboard or portside?

Schusswinkel : 63 grad. Is this the angle between the heading of the
u-boat and the heading of the torpedo? and again how do i know if this was
on the port or starboardside?

Torpedokurs : 66 grad (is this a true heading or a angle of shooting?)

Entfernung: 22 h. and 22 hm (what is this?, a distance of 2200 m during
launching?)

Furthermore the schussmeldung says : Vg= 9 (speed of the victim), gamma =
100, beta = 16

It is very important for me to find out if the torpedoes were launched to
the SB side or Portside. How can i find proof ? The only proof i could
find is if they were using SB torpedo tubes only for SB targets i guess.

Regards,

Jan Berghuis
