Sorry for not directly answering your question, but Forest is correct in that the JANAC credit for the Shinano was 59,000 tons, even though fully loaded and outfitted the Shinano was a 72,000 ton class vessel.
The Shinano was really sunk before it was finished building, being moved from one port to another to complete. Not all equipment was installed yet, nor was it filled with supplies, aviation fuel, aircraft, or a full crew. As best as JANAC could determine, at the time of sinking, the Shinano was about 59,000 tons, not 72,000. hence the lower credit. Not that there isn't a lot of fuzz on that number....
