JT,
According to my brand new copy of NAVPERS 16160, Chapter 19 Compensation, we find the following. Each torpedo weighs in at 3177 pounds, and the moment arm for the forward tubes is 118.0 feet. I can't imagine the warhead not being included in the weight figure.
So, 3177 x 118 = 374886 pounds feet. Times five fish gives us 1874430 pounds feet of compensation needed. Now with the tube filled with water, using your figures, we get 3276 X 118 = 386568 x 5 = 1932840, and we are heavy forward.
So 1932840 - 1874430 = 58410 pounds feet / 118 = 495 pounds heavy. At 64.1 pounds per cubic foot (495 /64.1 = 7.7 cubic feet) of water. Call it even for this drill.
But the instantaneous moment (before the tube refills with water) effect of 374886 pounds feet or 1874430 pounds feet, may be a different tale. Would be like sixteen 200 pound auxiliarymen moving from tubes forward to the galley, in less than a minute!
