HMS Santa - which submarine Mined he

Hello,
my name is Simone and I'm writing You from Rome, Italy.
Since a couple of years I'm working on an historyc
research on a small ship, now a know wreck, in Sardinia (west of La Maddalena Island).

I'm quite sure the ship is the "HMS Santa" a minesweeping
whaler mined and sunk in november 1943 (at least 19 died).
Searching on uboua.net site
I've also found a page dedicated to this ship:
[www.uboat.net]

What I would really need is the
name of the submarine that laid the mines
then hit by the HMS Santa.
Is it German or British ?

I cannot find documents reporting this
submarine (allied or German) and/or information related to the mine
field.

I hope you will be able to help me finding what
I consider really precious infos.
