<HTML>Pete

In the nursing home where my mother lives in Victoria, BC, there is an old seaman who once served in FRASER. He was taken off just before the fatal voyage because he had the flu. There may have been others taken off.

Since FRASER and HMCS RESTGIOUCHE were at that time sailing from UK ports, there would be no RCN depot from which to draft replacement personnel. So my guess is that the RN Depot sent along a few RN replacements.

You must remember that during this time, the RCN was basically a division of the RN. The rCN had the same promotion system, rank system, training system,, uniforms, regulations, equipment ans ships. Even up to the 1950's, one could still easily transfer once navy to another!

I can give you more information if you wish to email me directly.</HTML>
