I am Graham Masters Nephew to Frederick Ernest Letherby. The Facts as I was told them are that Fred was a Gunner in HMS Eagle and came ashore to take an exam for Petty Officer. He notified his mother my Grandmother (Kate Pepper) that he would come home on leave, he would send a telegramme to confirm date and time. After a while telegramme arrived saying Missing Believed Killed with reference to a Canadian ship. My Grandmother later found out the name of the ship was HMCS Fraser. Fred was posted as a replacement Gunner as his name was on avalible personel list at the time. If you wish for any more information please email me.
