Brian, thanks, the picture is unfolding. Australian Jim Brigland (joined R.N.) took command Jul '42. Joined 3 survivors of St Nazaire Raid and flotilla of 4 went to and worked out of Algiers for 18mths."We only had one dark piece. Another boat and myself had a submarine that was not friendly so we were eventually credited with a "possible damage".(Understand the other boat was from St Nazire and skippered by Doug Pratt or Platt if that gives a clue). Later they were in a 6-boat minelaying flotilla, Italy and Yugo.

Kindly check spelling, built in "Lode" Cornwall.

Am working on an article about Jim and 493. So any further details appreciated.

Why are the Fairmiles not listed in the 6000 warships lists as are humble tugs and ASW trawlers?
