Loch Ruthen joined EG2,(after the death of Captain Walker) replacing Loch Killin sometime towards the end of 1944. She was involved in the searches leading to the destruction of U1018, U1208 and U1024. She was credited with the sinking of U683 on 12.03.45 but this was later found to have been the wreck of a previous sinking.
