Hi again,
Manxman laid a field of 156 mines on 29/11 barely 2 nm west of the one laid by Rorqual on 8/12. According to my map (which is likely to be accurate but possibly incomplete), it appears that Rorqual may have crossed the southern edge of this barrage to reach her laying position - a rather dangerous endeavor.
If we assume the position of the field as shown is correct, and no other lays were made between 29/11-8/12, then Graz and Cittá de Trapani could both have been lost on Manxman's mines. All Axis barrages shown are to the west of the positions where the hospital ships sank and, barring some incredible navigational error, should not be considered as candidates.
Regards, BrianV
