Wilhelm Werner claimed to have sunk the Carpathia on 17-7-1918 on his last patrol in the U 55. He gave the location as 49.41N 10.45W.

Its off the east coast of Ireland and the wreck was located a couple of years ago in 171 m of water. Werner used 3 torpedos in order to sink her with the loss of 5 lives.
