I just got back from my weekly trip to look at KTBs. Had a look at U 28's KTB on the sinking of the Iberian; there's nothing in its description of the sinking about a sea monster. Period. I scanned the entry if anyone is interested.
And, of course, U 28 was lost in 1917, not 1915 (details otherwise correct.)
