I was brought up near Cwmtydu .
The story as told me by my father was that The crew took on water and killed a sheep . That the captain changed into uniform so if captured would not be shot as a spy and walked up to the local pub and had a drink where no one had taken any notice of him .
He walked back and off they went .

The story which my father assured me was that the captain had writen the story down in his memoirs published in Germany . I have always meant to try and check this out .
